Older Man Walking.
Middle aged men suffer.
They suffer from something that you often here as a humorous line here or there. Thats right.
Shrinkage.
Usually this shrinkage is suggested to be physically... with regard to the specifically male anatomy. But, in my case, and probably other men's case as well, we suffer from the shrinkage of something far more important.
Ego.
This shrinkage occurs when real life smacks us in the face, reminding us exactly how old we are... and if that isnt enough, this is the reminder of everything we can not do even though we once could... everything we will not be that we once thought we would. Ego Shrinkage bites... kinda like reality. Its a product thereof.
Time puts men in their place and tell's them to stay. And like me with my dog, sometimes forgets to bring us in. Sometimes it will leave us out for way too long.
Once upon a time: long long ago; My ego was big enough to fill the Lincoln Stadium. I was always genuine, but full of confidence, and my ego was big enough to fill in the holes when I would lose a game, be unable to complete a task, be able to take criticism.
Now, my ego has deflated significantly to where I just lack the ability to bounce back. Sure... other things fill in the holes, but they are spine covered and seem to further deflate the already bruised ego. Like Pie and Ice Cream.
I am bothered... So I eat, so I get fatter, so I am bothered. etc.
LESSON LEARNED: Don't forget to tell your children... dont eat the grass!
